Meeting Tangible Needs & Offering Experiences
For many of the youth and families who utilize Family & Children Services’ offerings, meeting daily needs and having enough resources to provide summer enrichment activities can be a struggle.
Help a Child Experience Summer Enrichment!
Every year, Family & Children Services sends more than 300 children to area summer camps and enrichment programs. These transformative experiences are carefully selected in conjunction with the social worker and caregiver based on the needs of the child.
Donations from people like you help make these experiences possible and successful by providing:
- Enrichment Scholarships – You can fund a scholarship for a child to attend summer enrichment opportunities through a gift to our HANDLE WITH CARE Annual Fund.
- Backpack Supplies – You can purchase summer essentials such as backpacks, shampoo, personal care products, swimsuits, and towels and drop them off. See the Childhood Enrichment Wish Lists below for details.
Year-Round Pantry
Many of the families we serve are forced to go without essentials. The Year-Round Pantry addresses this by providing those on an as-needed basis.
You can help by donating new items to the Pantry.
The following are always needed, and we invite you to call us if you have other items that families may need:
- Diapers/wipes.
- Baby formula.
- Personal care products, soap, shampoo, deodorant, and toothpaste/toothbrushes.
- Cleaning supplies, buckets, etc.
- Laundry detergent, baskets, etc.
- Toys and games.
Please consider joining the many area businesses, organizations, families, and individuals who partner with Family & Children Services to stock the pantry and keep up with ever-increasing needs as well as donating funds toward enrichment activities.
New items for the year-round pantry and summer enrichment activities may be dropped off at Family & Children Services, 1608 Lake Street, in Kalamazoo.

Gifts to Family & Children Services, Inc. are deductible for income tax purposes. We welcome gifts of all kinds, including cash, checks, credit cards, gifts of stocks, IRA distributions, Donor Advised funds, and gifts-in-kind.
