Studies prove when children interact with nature, it helps with stress, anxiety, and depression. The youth we work with have often experienced more trauma and stress than average so we created our Summer Enrichment Campaign to help children experience nature, camps, and other enrichment opportunities during the summer months.

Our mission is clear, we are here to support, strengthen, and preserve the safety, well-being, and dignity of children and families. We know giving families resources to commune with nature in healthy ways, whether at camp or here at our family center, is one way we can do that.

This #earthday consider joining us in our endeavor to impact children in truly remarkable ways. Go here to donate and learn more:

This week our Agency put out pinwheels representing Child Abuse Prevention. "The blue and silver pinwheels displayed during April, and throughout the year, symbolize the health and happiness all children deserve,” stated Governor Whitmer's April 2024 proclamation of Child Abuse Prevention Month in Michigan.

CEO Diane Marquess said, "Our mission and programs at Family & Children Services are a part of this greater cause to build a hopeful future and create a nurturing and supportive environment for children and families. Child abuse and neglect are preventable. Thank you to our incredible staff for making it your cause to nurture and support children and families.”

Thank you so much to Allegan Aquatic Center for donating swim passes for our clients to use this summer!

A piece of keeping children and families strengthened and healthy is ensuring they, like the rest of us, have an infusion of fun whenever possible. Life for the under resourced can be full of stressors, so partnering with community organizations that deal in play is such a gift.

If you would like to be one of our community partners helping bring hope to our clients, please email or call Heather Videto at or 269-910-3932.

Recently Korey Stone, Foster Care Licensing Specialist, attended a child abuse prevention coalition event with community partners committed to keeping children safe and supported.

While at the event, Korey ran into one of our extraordinary foster parents and her biological daughter who were out supporting the cause as well. Our foster parents aren’t just heroes to the kids in their care, they are heroes to us all, often committing themselves to changing the systems that contribute to children being placed in foster care.

Thank you, Rachel and Grace Boyle, and all of our foster parents who are doing the necessary work of caring for the most vulnerable children in our community.

We, like so many of you, enjoyed a break on Monday to witness the solar eclipse. It was such a delight to see staff and family gathered to share in the awe and wonder of space!

We value how hard our staff works to bring hope to the community, so any chance we can get to bring us all together outside of the set work structure, is so important to what we do here as well.

We hope you enjoyed your solar eclipse experience too!
