Professional Philosophy:
The author, Thomas Moore, says therapy is about telling our story: “The telling of our story gradually allows the pieces of life experience to find their relation to each other.” It is a privilege for me to listen, to help my clients untie the knots in their lives. I also believe healing encompasses the wholeness of a person, body, mind, and spirit, and I seek to understand all of these aspects of a client during our time together.

Special Interests:
I have a special passion for the child/parent (or guardian) relationship and helping that become the best it can be. I like to say that I don’t simply ‘work with children’ but rather, I work with children and their parent/guardian, because that is the key to helping the child. I also find it a privilege to work with families of any description, often using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to help individuals understand and respect the gifts of each others’ innate personality types. I am also passionate about using the Enneagram, a well-respected tool to help individuals understand their defense systems and get out of their own way in terms of personal growth.

Education:
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s of Social Work Degree from Western Michigan University. I have spent years as a personal and career coach, and am a certified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the most widely used personality sorter in the world. I am also educated in the Enneagram, which helps people understand their defense systems.
