Parenting is a challenge. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, scared, and confused at times. We want to work with parents to make sure that children have the opportunity to grow up healthy and happy.
Service Overview
Family Skills Services believes that parents and their children should remain together whenever possible. We offer help with change and growth. We work from a strength-based approach and believe that progress can happen when we work together with the parents. Family Skills Services offers helpful information about parenting, communication, budgeting, child development, strengthening relationships, and substance abuse recovery.
Services provided may include: Home management; assessment and determination of family needs; assistance in developing individualized, family-centered plans; support with vocational or educational needs; parenting/family education, information, and support; advocacy, referral, and support within community and educational systems; support in accessing professional assessments and systems; individual and family support services focused on community integration; and support in developing and maintaining family systems.
Family Skills staff will work with you on:
- Using a strength-based, needs-driven approach.
- Encouraging choice throughout service involvement.
- Identifying and building relationships with natural supports.
- Providing advocacy, community-based referrals, and support.
- Partnering to create and sustain community involvement.
- Promoting wellness, recovery, and
self-determination. - Recognizing personal stage of change and addressing needs that brought parents into services.
