Court Supported Services
Preserving and Nurturing Parental Bonds
Family & Children Services works with local county family courts to provide supervised parenting time services to families involved in the court system.
Service Overview
Family & Children Services works with the Friend of the Court (FOC), to provide supervised parenting time for families that are unable to agree to parenting time schedules. These services are essential for preserving and nurturing the strong bonds between parents and children, particularly in situations where they are not residing together.
The purpose of the program is to provide a safe and neutral setting for families to engage in court ordered supervised parenting time.
The family support worker provides:
- Weekly visitation schedule for the parent and child/children.
- Provide written documentation to the visiting parent(s) as well as the court.
- Resources for families to utilize during parenting time.
Eligibility and Referrals
Friend of the Court is a referral-based program where:
- The parents are court ordered for this service in Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Van Buren, and Allegan counties.
- Referrals are received directly from the FOC offices.
Funding
Eligible parents may receive visitation grant funding with a copay by the parent(s). Those who do not qualify for the grant can pay cash for the hourly service.
