Family Preservation & Parenting Support
Building skills and rebuilding families
Family & Children Services’ Family Preservation and Parenting Support are provided on a referral basis. These services focus on creating healthy family relationships and giving parents the skills and understanding they need to raise their children in a nurturing environment.
When there is a high risk of children being removed from the home, Family Preservation Programs provide support in the hopes of keeping families together. Parents who are struggling with parenting and those whose children have been removed from the home are offered restorative support through Parenting Skills Programs.
Our services dedicated to building skills and rebuilding families include:
- Families First of Michigan (FFM)- An intensive, 4-week program serving families whose children are at risk of out-of-home placement due to abuse or neglect.
- Families Together Building Solutions (FTBS) – An in-home program serving families in need of support for child and family well-being issues and supportive assistance for 3-6 months.
- Foster Care Supportive Visitation (FCSV)- Intensive, individualized parent skill coaching and education to families whose children have been in out-of-home placement for less than 8 months.
- Parent Aide Supportive Visitation (PASV)- Pairing families whose children are at risk of out-of-home placement with a Parent Aide for up to 6 months.
- Parenting Time Support Services (PTSS)- Providing parents and primary caregivers with a personal coach to help them reach their parenting goals.
