My Professional Philosophy:
I believe every individual and family has the capacity to grow and make positive changes, leading to recovery and more fulfilling lives. I strongly believe these changes could occur more rapidly if the person/family received the support they need, therapy being one of those supports. As a therapist I provide a safe environment to faced difficult issues, help develop new skills and grow. I am committed to providing and promoting respectful, sensitive and effective mental health services for everyone. I strongly support the Recovery Movement. I think it is important to be actively involved in local and national organizations which aim to improve the lives of those facing mental illness, poverty and/or discrimination, as well as those recognizing the assets of our community.

I have been working in mental health since the early 1980’s. I have been a therapist, a case manager, and have developed and administered programs. I have lead the process of program accreditation. I was a part of the development of Peer Services in Kalamazoo County. I have vast experience addressing the needs of culturally diverse populations. I have worked for non-for-profit, for profit and governmental organizations. I have experience in outpatient and residential settings. I have treated people facing mental illness and substance abuse disorders, and have provided treatment with individual adults and children, families and groups.
