My Professional Philosophy:
Counseling provides an opportunity for personal growth and healing. It is an honor to provide a safe and trusting atmosphere to support individuals and families move through challenging times. People do best when they gain an understanding of their perspective, strengths and learn new coping skills. I utilize a holistic philosophy to understand presenting needs and to empower personal growth.
I began my career as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 1995. I have worked in several different programs both within Family & Children Services and in other locations, including intensive home - based services, general outpatient counseling, private practice and outreach counseling to schools, homes and community settings. I have provided immediate crisis services to youth in Kalamazoo County. I joined the school-based therapist team at Family & Children Services in 2018. It is an honor to be part of the collaborative effort with Communities In Schools and Kalamazoo Public Schools to provide counseling on site at Kalamazoo Central High School.
