Diane Marquess Named New CEO!
Family & Children Services’ CEO Search Committee and Board of Directors have selected Diane Marquess, MS, LPC, LBSW as the agency’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Marquess brings more than 30 years of experience working in the field of behavioral/mental health serving individuals, youth, and families who have experienced significant trauma. For the past 28 years, she has served in various clinical and management roles at Family & Children Services, most recently as Clinical Services Director, where she led the agency’s Family Preservation, Behavioral Health, Residential and Crisis Intervention programming. Prior to joining Family & Children Services in 1995, Diane served as victim advocate and counselor with the YWCA Sexual Assault Program in Kalamazoo, MI, provided counseling for adolescent females placed in a residential treatment facility due to abuse/neglect and/or delinquency issues in Norwalk, CT, and supervised the home treatment program of a group home for adolescent girls placed due to abuse/neglect and delinquency issues in Nashville, TN.
Diane holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Bridgeport in Counseling and Human Resources and is licensed in the State of Michigan as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW). Since 2017, Diane has served as a Michigan ACE Certified Master Trainer through the Michigan Association of Health Plans Foundation, raising awareness about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), implementing strategies to prevent ACEs from occurring, and delivering trauma-informed, healing programming and training throughout Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties.
“I am thrilled to continue the extraordinary work we do here at the agency as the new CEO,” Marquess said, “having worked at Family & Children Services as long as I have, I know that we have the most dedicated and knowledgeable staff that will continue to meet the needs of our most under resourced community members. I look forward to building on the legacy that Sherry Thomas-Cloud has left in her tenure and creating connections with community partners to establish more impact and positive outcomes for our clients, staff, and community.”
Marquess becomes the new CEO on the heels of Sherry Thomas-Cloud’s retirement. Thomas-Cloud held the post for almost 7 years and brought the agency through many challenges, implemented new programming, created new partnerships, and moved the agency forward in establishing initiatives supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“As CEO, Diane will bring her expertise in behavioral health, along with her dedication to the mission and values that are the bedrock of our work at Family & Children Services. I have appreciated working with the Board of Directors, donors, and staff during my time here and will retire knowing Family & Children Services is in good hands,” said Sherry Thomas-Cloud.
Marquess begins her time as CEO on July 1.
