Congratulating 2020 Life Members
In recognition for their exemplary service, Family & Children Services each year names Life Members. This year, we congratulate three new members. Their passion and commitment for the work of the agency has furthered our mission and benefitted countless individuals, children and families who come to us as a source of hope. Their enthusiasm for the work of the agency, offering their problem-solving skills, and their willingness to champion the agency have benefited our mission and our clients.
For more than 44 years, Rosemary Gardiner has shared her vision and wisdom through a distinguished career as a leader at Family & Children Services. In 1972, she began her work as a pregnancy counselor, social worker, and then as a family therapist until 1985. Gardiner then continued as director for public relations (1985 to 2005), next as director of development and marketing (2005 to 2008), and finally culminating as chief executive officer from 2008 to 2016.
For many years, Peter Seaver has shared his leadership, vision and wisdom through his membership on the board of directors (2003 to 2011), in the executive committee, development committee and the endowment committee. His generous support of our staff volunteers for the past 15 years through his gifts to HANDLE WITH CARE have inspired years of community engagement outside of Family & Children Services.
Janice Maatman is a master faculty specialist emerita in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Western Michigan University. She has shared her leadership, vision and wisdom through her membership on the board of directors (2009 to 2018) as vice president, as chair of the program committee and also her service on the Executive and Nita Lou Walbridge Scholarship Committee.
We sincerely thank these three exemplary community leaders for their dedicated service to our agency!
