Being a middle schooler can be stressful, filled with uncertainty and confusion. Friends, school, sports, clubs — together these things may seem overwhelming and can add up to feelings of anxiety and sadness for our children. As parents, we want to help, but we aren’t sure how. Family & Children Services’ Counseling Center in Portage is offering a 6-week class for middle schoolers based on the "Learning To BREATHE" Program. Through simple and engaging activities, "Learning To BREATHE" offers middle schoolers a chance to get to know themselves better so they can start to manage their own stress and develop resilience. Our counselors will support and guide participants with the goals of improving focus, enhancing self-confidence, supporting emotional balance and gaining skills for managing stress.
