Philosophy:
I believe that the counseling process needs to be mutually productive between the individual(s) receiving the service and the counselor. My approach to counseling is to gain an understanding of the person(s) as a whole, in addition to what is identified as the reason for attending counseling. We will discuss your life and experiences, such as family, work, education and your beliefs and values. We will work to resolve the issue that brought you in for counseling in a collaborative manner taking into consideration both the positive and negative life experiences that have gotten you this far. During counseling, I may offer constructive and/or supportive feedback and insight in addition to teaching social skills and/or behavior modification strategies. I will often request that work assignments are completed in between sessions according to individual needs. Examples of the work assignments include journaling, exercise or changing self-talk

Experience:
My career focus has been with infants, children, teens, couples and families. I am Infant Mental Health Endorsed Level II by the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health. I started my career working with juvenile offenders at Eaton County Youth Facility. I have been at Family & Children Services in the Battle Creek office since March of 2012.
