Professional Philosophy:
My professional philosophy is simple. We are all human, and by that nature fragile and special in very unique ways. I enjoy meeting new people and joining them in their journey through the many twists and turns of life. It is important to know your strengths and to be able to access these strengths when facing an obstacle. I work to help each person identify the skills and tools needed to overcome each hurdle. I am happy to assist others through this process by being a support, challenging the thoughts that block us, and celebrating the triumphs that keep us moving forward.

I have been with the agency for over six years and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to continue my education through multiple training areas. The areas that I have focused on are Trauma work through TF-CBT, Infant Mental Health through the MI-AIMH organization, and various other trainings that will allow me to grow my clinical skills and abilities. I began my ongoing education with completing the five day training for Dialectical Behavior Therapy and was able to lead a group for a brief period of time before using the skills on an individual basis with adolescents and adults. I have found that each individual or family is very unique and as we come together I enjoy learning their personal expertise and combing my experience to help each individual or family find success with their personal goals.

Special Interests:
Throughout my years with the agency I have been able to specialize in multiple areas of practice. I have received my Infant Mental Health Endorsement –Level II and have enjoyed working with mothers and their young children. I have also started the process of receiving specialization in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I was led to this area of practice as I have felt a true passion working for traumatized youth, specifically children that have been involved in Foster Care System. It is crucial that young children have an advocate that has their best interest in mind, and is eager to work with such a vulnerable population. I have also been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major of Psychology and Sociology and a Human Services Concentration from Albion College. Following my undergraduate experience I immediately started at Western Michigan University where I received my Masters of Social Work degree.
