My Professional Philosophy:
My philosophy as a therapist is the personal centered approach. I see the client and the therapist as equal partners in the planning of the goals and the work needed to accomplish their own personal growth. The positive quality of the relationship is very important as we work together. My role is to be understanding, genuine and non-judgmental in the process.
I have been working in the field of mental health for 30 plus years. My career has included working outreach with families and children, as well as working in the school directly with the students. I have continued to provide outpatient counseling in the areas described. I continue to attend conferences and trainings relevant to my clinical work. I am also current with all licensing requirements for the State of Michigan.
My area of interests involves working with adults, teens and families. I work with those who are struggling with mood issues such as anxiety and depression. I also address issues of grief/loss, relationship concerns, divorce adjustment, domestic abuse, stress, anger management, life transitions, and self esteem.
I received my MA in Counseling from Western Michigan University as well as my BA in Social Work. I am licensed by the State of Michigan, as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and also as a Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW).
