A message from CEO Sherry Thomas‑Cloud
September 8, 2017
I hope you like fall as much as I do. Don’t get me wrong: I like warm weather and all that Southwest Michigan has to offer in the summer months. But I love sweater-weather and change of seasons that is fast approaching. I’m also a football fan. Go Broncos!
Before saying goodbye to summer, however, I want to acknowledge the 109 children we were able to send to more than a dozen area summer camps, thanks to the more than $30,000 we raised from big-hearted donors such as you. You kept these children busy reading books, learning how to swim, hiking through the woods, boosting their self-esteem, and just plain having fun. They would not have been able to do this without your support. Thank you.
Of course, our agency responds to the needs of clients young and old in all seasons. And we invite you to join us in this effort through your donations and volunteer service. Please click on the “Ways to Give” button on our website to read about our Year ‘Round Pantry, Holiday Giving, HANDLE WITH CARE annual fund, and other ways you can support the families and children we serve throughout the year.
Many of our programs focus on the mental health concerns of K-12 adolescents and teens, especially as they head back to school. Two of these concerns – bullying and suicide – and the programs we have in place to address them are discussed in the newsletter articles that follow. Please read these articles and join our effort to keep our children happy, healthy, and safe during this and the other seasons of their lives.
Thank you for all you do for Family & Children Services. I hope you and your families have a wonderful fall season.
